MANAGEMENT
Supervising the work of a 4-person team:
- distributing tasks,
- verifying results,
- coordinating the process of reporting to the management,
- managing projects within the team.
For the first five years I worked as an Administrator of Information Technology
Systems. Between 2006 and 2009 I was a
Chief Specialist in the IT department.
My basic responsibilities as an administrator of
IT systems included ensuring the
security and proper functioning of:
- the AIX 5L
systems along with the HACMP cluster software working on the IBM
platform (30 servers p series: Power 5 + Power 6; 20 servers x series –
HMC),
- IBM System Storage (with the use of IBM Storage
Manager) in storage area networks (SAN): DS4700+EXP810; DS8100,
- HITACHI disk matrices in storage area networks
(SAN),
- Storage Area Network (IBM 2005-B32, IBM 3534-F08)
switches and the monitoring of
zoning within particular fabrics.
as well as installing, modifying, upgrading,
controlling:
- the
SOLARIS system (in versions:
from 2.6 to 2.10) based on the SUN FIRE (V880, V125); SUN ENTERPRISE (250,
450, 3500); SUN ULTRA (1, 2, 5, 10, 60) hardware platforms along with the
Sun StorEdge (A1000; 3300; A5100) disk matrices,
- LINUX (RED HAT; FEDORA CORE; DEBIAN; SUSE etc.)
and RED HAT CLUSTER (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Advanced Platform) on the
HP platform (100 servers DL360/DL380G5; ISCSI Storage: HP Storage Works
MSA2000, HP Storage: MSA70),
- services like DNS , DHCP, APACHE, NFS, SAMBA,
FTP, TELNET, SSH, RSH, VNC, SENDMAIL, POSTFIX.
The
additional responsibility within the network operating systems was monitoring
the NOVELL NETWARE system (in 3.x – 5.x versions).
My main tasks ( in the area of databases) included
managing and supervising:
- ORACLE (which uses RMAN), CTREE (FAIRCOM) and
MYSQL,
- making ONLINE and OFFLINE backups of ORACLE
databases,
- “duplicating” ORACLE database instances (based on
ONLINE copies),
- „cloning” ORACLE database instances (based on
OFFLINE copies),
- optimizing and monitoring the work of ORACLE
databases with the use of tools: ENTERPRISE MANAGER, QUEST CENTRAL FOR
ORACLE + SPOTLIGHT, STATSPACK.
The experience that I have gained allowed me to gather
knowledge necessary to quickly identify and solve/ correct current problems/
errors of ORACLE databases.
Within the framework of workshops organized by
IBM POLAND/BROCADE I acquired the necessary skills and knowledge related to the
configuration and control of a storage area network (SAN) (routing, zoning, ISL
and trunking within particular fabrics with the use of IBM matrices and
servers).
Participating in workshops („New
techniques of local network protection” by ASCOMP) and tests conducted on
the NetScreen hardware solutions allowed me to familiarize myself with the
issues of „Intrusion Prevention”.
One of my tasks relating to the implementation of new solutions in 2006
was to carry out performance and scalability tests of hardware platforms,
databases and applications. At present I am able to properly prepare the
procedures (plans) of such tests as well as adequately match their type/ number
so that their results could determine if the system/ database/ application
fulfills specific performance/ scalability requirements.
I count the following among my greatest achievements:
- participation in three mergers of GBW S.A. with
other banks, which involved integrating systems/ data bases/ applications
and technical solutions (LAN/WAN) of the acquired companies with the
standards applied in Gospodarczy Bank Wielkopolski S.A.,
- active participation in the process of selecting
an Information Technology system for Spółdzielcza Grupa Bankowa
(Cooperative Banking Group), for which in 2006 I received an award of the
Management Board of GBW S.A.
- participation in performance and scalability
tests of banking applications based on the databases (ORACLE: 9i, 10g)
that work on the IBM servers and matrixes (the AIX 5L operating system).
The tests were carried out in IBM Benchmark Center (in Mountpellier,
France).
The knowledge and professional experience that I have gained allow me to
create and conduct analyses of projects connected with the technical
architecture, LAN/WAN networks and security.
The operating system that I have been using (both privately and
professionally) has been exclusively LINUX (at present FEDORA). The experience
that I have gained allows me to highly assess the level of my knowledge of and
practical expertise in the solutions applied in UNIX / LINUX.
One of the elements of my work as an administrator was programming in
the BOURNE, KORN and C shells. Thanks to numerous trainings supported by wide
professional experience I may admit that I am very much familiar with these
issues. I was also responsible for the integration of UNIX, MICROSOFT WINDOWS,
NOVELL networks carried out with the use of Network File System (NetWare NFS
Services; Solaris NFS; SFU-Windows Services for UNIX) and SAMBA.
In
2003 I finished CISCO NETWORKING ACADEMY, thanks to which I have the knowledge
which is necessary for work with the IT infrastructure, i.e. Switches, Routers
which use the TCP/IP, IPX/SPX protocols and WAN technologies (Frame Relay,
ISDN, PPP).
