Spółdzielcza Grupa Bankowa
(Cooperative Banking Group)
SGB-Bank S.A.
Chief Information Officer |
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
ü I merged IT
infrastructures of two large organizations, GBW S.A. and MR Bank S.A (SGP Bank
S.A. was created as a result of this merger);
(In my
previous positions, I participated in three different mergers between GBW S.A.
and the following banks: S.A., PKBR S.A. and BRC S.A. Each merger required
unifying systems/databases/applications and IT solutions (LAN/WAN) with the
standards of the GBW S.A.)
ü I launched a cost
cutting plan in the IT Department which generated savings of 25% within 3 year.
It involved:
·
consolidating contracts with the suppliers of applications
after the merger,
·
renegotiating contracts with software and telecommunication
services suppliers;
·
implementing high-availability database architecture;
·
taking over some tasks and implementing in-house IT solutions
which reduced the cost of maintenance services;
·
implementing Disaster Recovery Architecture for the main
and spare Data Center of SGB Bank S.A. Before the implementation, the IT tasks
of the Bank’s head office had been relocated from Mielżyńskiego Street to Szarych Szeregów
Street;
·
simplifying the management of the SAN by implementing IBM
SVC solution;
ü As a Project
Manager I was responsible for implementing def3000, a central banking system,
in SGB Bank S.A. After this implementation GBW S.A. received an award for the
Best Transactional System given by a business magazine Gazeta Bankowa
“Every year, [our magazine] chooses the best and most
advanced systems, such as def3000 which has been operating in GBW S.A. and banks
belonging to the SGB Group. The system was created by Asseco Poland S.A. to
meet operational and professional needs of GBW S.A.” (source: Gazeta Bankowa
and SBP Brochure)
(In 2006, I received an award from GBW S.A.
Management Board for my contribution into the process of choosing the IT system
for the SGB Group).
ü Over 3 years I
standardized:
·
IT infrastructure (servers, mass storage and network solutions);
·
operational systems, application and database area;
·
backup and virtualization solutions;
·
hardware and application solutions for users;
·
Service Oriented Architecture through launching IBM WebSphere
(ESB).
ü I restructured
the IT Department in order to meet the needs of the growing Bank and comply
with Polish regulatory requirements (Recommendation D):
·
created a Monitoring Team (24/7/365) and Service Desk;
·
set up a Data Warehouse Team;
·
built a Database Team and Application Servers Team;
·
launched HP Service Manager Software in the Help Desk Team
and devised support solutions in line with the ITIL standards for dealing with
incidents and problems.
ü I reduced Bank’s
printing costs by 34% by launching a central printing system (energy savings of
31% and a decrease in the amount of printouts of 56%, return on investment
within 11 months);
ü The following
services, devised for and implemented in banks of the Group, generated an
increase in SGB Bank S.A. revenues:
·
WAN management (125 banks),
·
safe Internet access (50 banks).
Launching Active Directory to authenticate and
authorize Internet access in SGB Bank S.A. translated into a decrease in the
use of Internet per employee (by 0.5 to 1 .5 hour per day).This trend was
described in an article published on money.pl
·
hosting services (2 banks),
·
central group mailing system (207 banks).
ü I organized annual IT conferences for Board members of
banks of the Group
(about 200 participants).
(about 200 participants).
